Washington DC – June 27, 2017 – The National Woman’s Party at the Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument welcomes their newest board member Tonya Saunders after a unanimous vote last week. Tonya’s colleagues and friends describe her as talented, ambitious, and passionate in her work.  

After years of working both on and off Capitol Hill, Tonya founded Washington Premier Consulting, LLC (WPC) and Washington Premier Group, LLC. WPC has been a federal contracting company since 2010 and Washington Premier Group (WPG), formed that same year handles all government affairs, public policy and government relations, and management consulting work.  Ms. Saunders continues to deliver for her clients, whether it is building coalitions, business development, planning/facilitating leadership conferences, or developing legislative strategies. Washington Premier Group, which is located in Washington, D.C. currently represents Federally Employed Women (FEW).

Among her accomplishments is founding “Mid-Tier Advocacy, Inc. (MTA)”, a national nonprofit organization of advanced small and medium-sized businesses. Tonya was instrumental in passing legislation that helped these engines of our economy grow and create jobs. Ms. Saunders spearheaded the effort to enact the Advanced Small Business Pilot amendment in the National Defense Authorization Act in 2013, which passed the House of Representatives and is now part of a study conducted by the Department of Defense.

As an advocate for women who are victims of domestic abuse, violence, human sex trafficking and stalking, Tonya has acted as a speaker for training sessions, panels, and conferences including “On the Case” with Paula Zahn and has appeared on the Today Show, “How to Recognize a Dangerous Relationship.”  In every role, Tonya has provided advocacy with integrity on both state and national fronts for more than 20 years.
